Q&A from AMA #3 - Public Speaking for pitch submissions

Thanks for joining us in the GitLab Community Discord server for AMA #3- where we went over the applied public speaking tips to what we learned about crafting a great pitch from Abubakar last week for your submission videos! : https://discord.gg/gitlab.

Here's a brief Q&A of the questions you asked to share back with the rest of the registrants :)

Q1. If we are building an application for a cloud provider, is that applicable?

A1. As long as your application meets the judging criteria and brings value to the GitLab community or users, yes.

Q2. I am building an extension for GitLab Duo. If I'm using a specific repository to test the AI, will there be licensing concerns or issues?

A2. We recommend reviewing the license on the repository or tool that you're using to test or demo. If there isn't one, we recommend reaching out to the maintainers or finding one that has a license that allows you to use it for an AI project.

⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯

Q3. Do we need to use GitLab Duo for our submission?

A3. You're not required to use GitLab Duo for your submission or proof of concept demo. "conduct AI experiments with/on GitLab" is an example of a project you could do.

Q4. Can two (or more) gitlab GPU runners share their VRAM?

A4. (pending follow-up, we'll update with an answer shortly)

Q5. In regard to key terms that grab viewers of the presentation, what words or phrases would you think grab people listening to these pitches? Also, keep in mind that perhaps one day, we are presenting for grant money or for investments.

A5. We shared a couple of things in regard to this question.
- If it works for your project, you could have a hook - something that brings people into the story of this tool and why it solves a problem.
- You could also consider centering your user, who is this application for? what problem does it solve and lead with that.

Q6. How can I showcase a great story and proactively show my skill as a product manager?
A6. Once you have your pitch in a SCQA format, we recommend adding some flair by telling a story about a user to really showcase the situation, the problem, and how it's being solved with your solution. Include the high level features of the application and the key points that you want to get across, while telling the story of how the tool makes the user's work more efficient or more accurate (depending on the project).
